Yup! All moved and settled in to our new house at the end of June. Now if I could just find my camera and cereal bowls that would be great. I'm planning to post pictures of the new place real soon. When I can find my camera and some time, that is.
In the meantime, I thought I'd share the little upgrade I managed to complete one night in the new kitchen after the boys went to bed. I've been following all the painted door updates on Pinterest and love the look so I thought, "What the heck?". It's a door, right? So if I really don't like it, doesn't take much to re-paint.
Here's a sneak preview of the new kitchen and the white pantry door on the right. I apologize in advance for the less than clear pics. I had to use my iphone because, and I think I mentioned this once or twice....I can't find the darn camera.
As you can see, the house is super neutral. Which is great. But bland. So in comes the "pop of color" via painting the pantry door. A few months ago, I bought some kitchen towels from Target and I've hung them in the window as curtains.
I took the deep blue/green on one of the spoons and had Home Depot mix up a custom match.
Friday night, after the boys went to bed, I started on the door. And had a complete heart attack. Because it was so darn green. Eek. I was thinking more blue.
So I stopped for a while, poured a glass of wine and pondered. I finally decided to go ahead and finish it off. The door, I mean, not the wine. Although come to think of it, maybe that wouldn't have been a bad idea? Anywho....I finished the door and this is the end result.
It looks way bluer in the photos than in real life. If it were actually this color, I'd love it. But it's a lot more green up close in person.
A friend suggested I paint the trim around the door black (or dark to match the cabinets and flooring) but I'm still not sure what I think. I'm planning to live with it for awhile before I decide to commit or repaint. The big issue for me is that the main floor is totally open concept and the color doesn't work with my living and dining area. Not a big glaring mistake but just sort of an isolated blue green door sitting in the middle of the house.
Ironically, I loved this color when I saw it on the cover of HGTV magazine's April 2013 cover.
Have a great week, everyone!
Linking up for feedback at some long neglected parties this week.
